Curb Mounted Skylight Repair in Sparrow Bush, NY

Curb Mounted Skylight Repair in Sparrow Bush, NY

Curb mounted skylight repair in Sparrow Bush, NY covers skylights that sit on a raised wooden box, called a curb, built up from the roof deck. The skylight frame fits over the curb like a lid. This style is common on flat and low slope roofs, and on a lot of older pitched roofs too.

The weak points are the curb itself and the flashing around it. Curbs built from untreated 2x lumber rot when water gets behind the flashing. Gaskets between the skylight frame and the curb dry out and shrink. On flat roofs, the membrane that wraps up the curb splits at the corners after years of heat and cold.

Sparrow Bush, NY Skylight Repair takes the skylight off the curb, checks the wood, and replaces any rotted sections. We re-wrap the curb with new membrane or metal flashing depending on the roof type, fit new gaskets and set the skylight back down. On curbs shorter than about 4 inches, we often raise them so the flashing sits higher than standing water or snow.

Most curb mounted skylight repair jobs take a single visit. Call (833) 548-0266 and tell us if you have a flat or pitched roof so we bring the right materials.
